    Great Watch

Posted by Unknown on 18th Jul 2019

    (1) This 2018 watch continues the excellent quality of Casio's "Atomic Solar Hybrid Bluetooth" line of watches. Last year I bought the 2017 Casio G-Shock MR-G GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid Bluetooth MRGG2000HT-1A (which is much more expensive because that particular model was "Limited" and also had a hand-chiseled titanium band and bezel) and it has been a great addition to my watch collection. This 2018 watch (subject of this comment) is different on the exterior, but identical (as far as I can tell) to the 2017 model on the interior. Now, with the 2018 model, I wear it more often than I have worn the 2017 model because this 2018 model, with a rubber band, is much lighter on my wrist. I love the new rubber band. (2) These Atomic Solar Hybrid Bluetooth G-Shock MR-G watches can be set via GPS satellite and by radio signal (five broadcasters in various countries around the world) and can also be set by linking it to a Bluetooth phone (iPhone, in my case). These watches keep excellent time -- to within 15 seconds per month if not reset by one of those three ways. (3) I have a Citizen GPS watch, which I love, and which acquires GPS time much faster than my Casio watches, but the Citizen GPS does not distinguish between daylight savings time and standard time -- when set by GPS satellite. On the other hand, the Casio Atomic Solar Hybrid watches CAN distinguish between daylight savings and standard times via the GPS satellites, but takes a bit longer. The one "negative," if you can call it that, is that if you access the GPS signal near the border between two time zones, the watch can be confused as to which time zone you are in. But that has not yet happened to me. And I'd bet the Citizen GPS watches can also be confused near the borders of adjacent time zones. (4) Is Casio's 2018 G-Shock MR-G GPS Atomic Solar Hybrid Bluetooth MRGG2000R-1A Soft Fluoro-Rubber watch worth the money? That's up to your personal budget. But it certainly is a great watch for me and I wear it almost every day.
