For the 55th Anniversary of Grand Seiko, Seiko introduced a new line up in their historical collection commemorating the anniversary of their first self-winding timepiece, the 62GS. This take on the 62GS features their Spring Drive 9R65 caliber, a 40mm titanium case and bracelet, and a unique "box type" sapphire crystal that is basically deeply domed, and pretty much eliminates the bezel.
This model featured is SBGA125. This has a silvery white dial with a granite type texture, similar to one of the 50th Anniversary Grand Seiko models from 5 years ago. The case design is a reincarnation of the 62GS, with beautifully faceted lugs and Zaratsu polishing on their proprietary titanium alloy known as high-intensity or Bright titanium.
A total of only 1,000 pieces are going to be produced of the SBGA125, and is estimated to be in the $6,000 plus range. The pieces are currently available for pre-order with delivery likely to occur around July-August. Of course will be keeping you posted on all the details as we find out more.
