Not one to rest on its laurels, Seiko is taking an evolutionary approach with their latest Astron series dubbed the Seiko Astron Solar GPS Traveler.  These are the first Astron models to feature a dual time function to meet the needs of the global traveler or business person.

Featuring a new 8X53 caliber, Seiko was able to shrink the size of the movement while adding functionality. The new dual time function is ideal for people who work with colleagues across the globe.  The small dial at the 6 O'Clock position will indicate the secondary time zone.  In Addition, there is a retrograde style day display and the perpetual calendar will maintain the calendar leap until February 28, 2100.

The Limited Edition Model Seiko Astron GPS Solar Traveler SBXB039 will be limited to 3000 pieces worldwide and will feature a blue bezel and a white butterfly shell dial.  This combination was selected to be a reminder of the colors of the earth as seen from space.

The shell dial has a beautiful texture that has a cloud like structure  to it.  The case is made of highly polished titanium with Seiko's Diamond Shield coating and the bezel of blue ceramic.

An improvement in operability of the crown has been achieved with a new lighter engraved texture for improved quality feel. Also a ceramic element has been added to the crown.  The function buttons get the same engraved treatment for improved usability.

The case back will engraved with the serial numbers and the edition number from the limited edition. The case diameter will be 48.7mm and will be 13.2mm thick.

This is a striking time piece and we are anxiously awaiting more information on its's arrival and price.
