Mühle-Glashütte 29er Zeigerdatum Review

Mühle-Glashütte 29er Zeigerdatum Review By Gary of Arizona Fine Time

Arizona Fine Time is proud to offer the Mühle-Glashütte 29er Zeigerdatum, an intriguing new release which roughly translates to “pointer date”. “A day at the sea, even at your desk” is what Mühle boasts with this enthralling new piece. Much like their marine chronometer, and timing systems, Mühle-Glashütte wristwatches are measuring instruments, with three core goals when designing a piece: Precision, reliability, and perfect readability. This humble boutique German brand started in 1869, quickly becoming one of the leading manufacturers of nautical instruments, and later expanding to other measuring devices like speedometers used by Maybach, and BMW. The sailing 29er style found in this model pays homage to the brands rich heritage.

At first glance, you notice the soft blue-grey flange of the inner bezel displaying the date, and a striking cardinal red second hand housed in this classic rugged 42 mm case. The motor itself is powered by a signature Mühle movement, a modified Sellita SW 221-1 with a 38 hour power reserve, and is water resistant to 100 meters. Mühle-Glashütte takes the SW 221-1 movement, and adds their own woodpecker neck regulation developed in 2003 in order to ensure accuracy in even the toughest conditions and environments. The woodpecker neck spring is designed to prevent the regulator arm from being able to move upwards by slotting into a semicircular depression in the regulator, making this piece almost completely shock proof, a resourceful feature regarded as very unique in the world of automatic watches.

The case is a combination of brushed and polished German Stainless Steel, and has an anti-glare coated sapphire crystal. Fitted with a stainless steel strap, and butterfly clasp, this piece also comes with an alternative blue textile band that gives the Zeigerdatum a completely separate appearance, and in a way, presenting itself as a completely separate timepiece altogether.

The 29er Zeigerdatum is priced at an affordable $2199.00, making it challenging to find another brand that can match the unique fit and finish that Mühle offers at this price point. Mühle-Glashütte continues to impress with this extraordinary and original new release known as the 29er Zeigerdatum. Please feel free to contact Arizona Fine Time’s watch specialists at 1-800-486-3996 for any questions about the Mühle-Glashütte 29er Zeigerdatum or any other fine timepiece.
